Clearview Cinemas Raritan Town Square
Flemington, New Jersey
The exterior design was carefully coordinated to blend with the traditional theme of the project, but in a meaningful way. The Planning Board pushed for the traditional design so that no facade would feature blank expanses of one material.
Working with the architect for the center and its developer, Garden Properties, an all masonry design was developed with multiple bands of brick in different colors and patterns, cornice details and even windows to coordinate with the three story adjacent retail/office building.
A projected canopy with shingled roof adds to the flavor of the center. A raised planter is provided on both sides of the entrance to add landscaping, seating and to break the facade. An effort was made to incorporate design elements from the site into this building while maintaining its function. To further enhance the flow and link the buildings, the front walkway of the cinema flows through the adjacent building to connect pedestrians from Town Square to the cinema and to provide cinema-friendly retail.
