Founding partner Joe Smith is the Principal Planner at Studio 5, and a licensed architect with extensive experience in the construction technology, codes, and regulations governing building construction. He is a professional member of the National Fire Protection Association and an elected to member status in the Society for Fire Prevention Engineers.
As a Professional Planner, Joe has personally provided professional services or directed staff members in land use planning, site feasibility studies, site plan design, drafting of land development, zoning ordinances and redevelopment plans, visual impact studies and parking studies. He has appeared as an expert witness before dozens of Planning Boards and Zoning Boards throughout the State of New Jersey, both on his own projects and as a consultant to other firms.
An expert in his understanding and interpretation of the NJ Municipal Land Use Law and NJDOT highway access regulations, Joe is also recognized throughout the area by building code officials as an expert in code analysis, planning, and fire safety.
